M.I.A. Releases “Bad Girls” New 2012 Song Ahead Of The Scheduled Release Date

Well this came as a complete surprise, M.I.A. has released her new single, “Bad Girls” ahead of the scheduled release date. Just one day after the singer’s staff had issued a press release to announce that M.I.A.’s new 2012 single will be premiered on January 30th, the British singer-songwriter went ahead and surprised the fans by premiering “Bad Girls” on January 26th.

M.I.A granted Radio 1’s Dj Zane Lowe an exclusive worldwide play of the new track, and if you thought that the wait till the end of the month was too long, all you have to do is scroll down and check out M.I.A.’s fresh new hit, “Bad Girls”.

The official information in the press release stated that “Bad Girls” will be given its debut live on BBC Radio 1, on Monday, January 30th, but M.I.A apparently thought that the wait was too long, so she decided to surprise everyone and grant Zane Lowe’s listeners a first listen. The new single was recorded in Miami, with producer Danja (you might know her from some very successful collaborations with the likes of Madonna and Nelly Furtado).

“Bad Girls” is the first track to be released off M.I.A.’s new 2012 album, which will be the fourth album in her musical career. So far, the album title has yet to be unveiled, but despite that aspect, the LP is rumored to feature collaborations with Swizz Beatz, Cataracs and Chris Brown.

As far as the video is concerned, information is scarce, in order to build up suspense, but unless M.I.A. decides to surprise us once again, the clip is scheduled for release on February 3rd. The visual offerings for “Bad Girls” were directed by Romain Gavras, who was also in charge of M.I.A.’s previous video for “Born Free”.

If you’re curious to hear how “Bad Girls” sounds, have a listen to the song below. The single will be available for download at all digital retailers begining with January 30th, 2012.
