Maroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa Play Cops And Robbers In The New Video For Payphone

We’ve been waiting a lot but the wait is finally over! Maroon 5 have released the official music video for their Wiz Khalifa assisted single, “Payphone” and it’s more of a big budget action movie rather than a song’s music video. The final result seems more of a “let’s try to insert a video plot amongst all of these chase scenes we shot”, but if there’s one thing that’s gonna click with the public (and we do mean the feminine part), it’s Adam’s carefully worked and tattooed body. Ladies, let’s see what Maroon 5’s new video is all about.

So, let’s try to find the plot of the video, bare with us cause it’s gonna be hard: basically, Adam tries to rescue the damsel in distress after a group of thieves brutally barges in to rob the bank they both work in. Coincidently or not, both Adam and his cute co-worker wear ridiculously weird and geeky glasses, anyhow, that’s not all that important.

After we’re introduced to the lead characters of the mini-movie, we’re all rudely interrupted by a gang of robbers who take the bank by surprise and start attacking the facility. So far, so good, we pretty much follow the plot, but here’s where things get odd. Adam instructs his cute colleague to take her shoes off, cause he had a plan. Adam then hijacks a gun from a bank robber, grabs the girl and makes a run for it… basically leaving everyone else there to deal with the whole robbery situation.

Once they’re outside the bank… they apparently turn in to a modern day Bonnie and Clyde, running from the police and stealing Wiz Khalifa’s car, blowing things up and assuming the role of outlaws. Of course, the lady of the video is left behind, while Adam runs from helicopters and about a dozen police cars, but hey, at least we get to see him lose the suit and show off his muscles.

When asked about the video, Adam declared that:

“I work at a bank and I wear these glasses that are really a bit creepy and maybe make me look like a child molester. It’s a real go-for-it, swing-for-the-fences video, I get brave and I steal a gun from one of the guys and try to be a bad-ass, which is weird, because I’m not a badass. We decided to kind of not play by the rules, as far as the typical video goes; I’m sick of seeing just a band playing a song in a video, I think it’s fun to try to do something far more different. I don’t think they’ll be able to play it on MTV actually, because there’s guns in it.”

There you have it, from Adam himself. Now let’s go ahead and have a look at the Samuel Bayner-directed video For Maroon 5’s “Payphone” below. Let us know what you think of it.

And below lets go behind the scenes and see how the video was shot:
