Keane To Release New Album “Strangeland” This Spring.Release date and tracklist announced.

It looks as if spring will start off on a positive note as we have just found out that Keane will be releasing a new album titled “Strangeland” that will hit the stores on May 7th, 2012. So not only we will have May flowers to gaze upon as winter finally leaves us, but we’ll have fresh music to listen to from the Sussex foursome. The new “Strangeland” album will be the bands fourth studio release and the first full album since Keane gave us “Perfect Symmetry” back in 2008. Sometimes, four years between albums can seem like an eternity in this business! Especially when each effort from Keane has been a smashing success!

Now granted, we did get the chart topping EP “Night Train” from the group back in 2010 and for all purposes you could label this a full album because it contained eight tracks. In fact, Keane front man Tim Rice-Oxley was quoted numerous times saying that the project “Is pretty much an album.” Oh well, we won’t argue at this point, instead let’s turn out attention to “Strangeland” and tell you what we know about it at this point.

You already know the release date of “Strangeland” so no need to repeat that. The album will contain 12 full length tracks (which you can see below) and was produced by Dan Grech-Marguerat who has previously done work for Radiohead, The Vaccines, Howling Bells and Lana del Rey. So now let’s deal with what might be the first single to be released from the new album.

According to Cherrytree Records head honcho Martin Kierszenbaum there might be two singles released to herald the arrival of “Strangeland”. Kierszenbaum recently told Billboard that “Silenced By The Night” would be the single released in the US and “Disconnected” would be the first release in the UK. He added that the idea behind this strategy was due to the fact that Keane “Has a global fan base.”

So what should we expect from this new album? In a recent interview, Keane’s Richard Hughes told Contactmusic.com the following. “On the album you have songs that draw upon the experiences we used to share as kids.” Tim Rice-Oxley told Nme.com that “Strangeland” will feel “Like an adventure, with different things for different people.”

Needless to say, we all will be waiting for May! Wouldn’t you agree?
