Katy Perry Premieres Bitter New Song: “Part Of Me”

During her amazing performance at the 2012 Grammy Awards, Katy Perry premiered her first new 2012 single, a song titled “Part Of Me”. Even if Katy hasn’t been making any statements about the recent events in her personal life, and quite frankly we think she’s doing the right thing, we could believe that this new song is a pretty straight forward declaration about her divorce.

Katy has already uploaded the official lyric video for “Part Of Me” on her Youtube channel and you can also download the studio version from iTunes. The song is actually the lead single off a special rerelease edition of her 2011 album which will be titled “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection”. The new version of the LP is set for release on March 27th and so far, Katy has just released “Part Of Me” off it.

Even though the song had already been released as a demo version long ago, no one ever gave it a second thought. But now, here comes Katy to put a new spin on it and oh what a spin it is! Despite the peaceful divorce and the “no comment” statements, “Part Of Me” seem to be a pretty straight forward declaration. Not only the is the chorus a very obvious statement, but also the hook, where Katy goes in for the kill saying that not only will she be ok, but she’ll be better than when she was with him. “Now look at me I’m sparkling / A firework / A dancing flame / You won’t ever put me out again / I’m glowing / So you can keep the diamond ring / It don’t mean nothing anyway / In fact you can keep everything / Except for me.” Pretty straight forward don’t you think?

It looks like broken hearted ladies have a river full of inspiration, and these days, they seem do be doing just fine. All you have to do is take a look at Adele and her recently won Grammies.
