    Personally I think this song is about a relationship in which the girl and her lover both love eachother but one has trouble showing it. “Its not enough to tell me that you care when we both knie that words are empty air.” She’s been waiting for her lover to show her that they care and that they want things to work but then never do instead they continue to simply go on telling her that the lover her. “I have swallowed every single word. Every whisper, every sigh eats away at this heart of mine. There is a hollow in me now.”She’s accepted this but now she’s starting to grow tired of being told but not shown. Now when they tell her they love her she can’t tell if its true or if its just wor
    ds. To me the chorus means that she’s trying to believe it and she’s trying to hope they’ll show her but she has nothing to truly go on. They’re giving her sweet nothing: pretty flowery words but no caring physical emotion or time to back those words up.

    A woman is completely in love with her lover but he can’t reciprocate. He tells her he cares about her but when she asks if he loves her, he says he doesn’t. She can’t stop thinking that she wants him to love her and it’s tearing her apart because she’s tricking herself into thinking he will love her soon. She has put everything into this relationship and she can’t bear yo say goodbye even though she knows deep inside he might just not be able to feel the way she needs him to.
