Asking Alexandria is a British five-piece post-hardcore band from York, England. The band has its roots in Dubai, UAE, where guitarist Ben Bruce started a band under the name EndofReason. After having recorded an unreleased album entitled The Irony of Your Perfection, the band changed their name to Asking Alexandria just before calling it a day.

Ben later moved back to the England, and a couple of years without a band, he started fresh with new members, though keeping the name Asking Alexandria. Ben has stated on the bands MySpace-blog that he was the inventor of the name, that he still liked it at the time and the meaning/reason behind the name still remained, and therefore decided to carry it on.

Ben also made an emphesised statement in the same blog post that the current Asking Alexandria is not the same band that wrote The Irony of Your Perfection, neither in style nor members.

Asking Alexandria’s debute album Stand Up And Scream was released on September 15th 2009 through Sumerian Records and they currently touring the US with Alesana, The Bled, Enter Shikari and Broadway in its support. They are also to be seen on tour once again in the US with Evergreen Terrace, For the Fallen Dreams and Unholy in October and November.
